Depart Dar Zaman at 07h00 in the direction of Ouarzazate by one of the most beautiful routes in Morocco, traversing the High Atlas mountains via the stunning Tizi n’ Tichka pass (2260m).
Stop for lunch and tour at the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Benhaddou, famous for its ancient Kasbahs and the setting of many films. Pass through Ouarzazate, and continue towards the Valley of Roses, Dades Valley, Skoura Oasis, with its authentic 17th century kasbah, then the “valley of a thousand kasbahs”, Dades Gorge, where you will stay overnight in a hotel.
Day 2 Sahara Desert Adventure
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to the Todra Gorge, a massive fault, rising to 300m in a narrow valley with palmeries and Berber villages. After lunch in the Gorge, continue further into the desert to Merzouga, stopping along the great sand dunes of Erg Chebbi where you will take a camel ride (about 1 1/2 hours) in order to arrive at the Bivouac Camp (toilet facilities at the camp) in time to see the sun setting over the dunes.
Dinner and music around the campfire, followed by a night under the stars or inside the bivouac tent.
Day 3 – Sahara Desert Excursion
Very early morning, witness the spectacular sunrise, followed by breakfast and the return camel trek out of the desert to Merzouga, where you rejoin the transport for the journey to Marrakech via Ouarzazate and the High Atlas Mountains, arriving back in Marrakech around 20h00.
Day 4 – Sahara Desert Excursion (optional)
Instead of driving 10 hours directly back to Marrakech on Day 3, we stop along the route, either in the Dades Valley, Skoura Oasis or Ait Benhaddou to enjoy the day and one more magical evening and night before heading back to Marrakech after breakfast on Day 4, arriving around 13h00.
